Career Pathways Advisory Task Force

The Career Pathway Advisory Task Force (CPAT) members were selected through a nomination process to ensure representation of all stakeholders and regional areas of our state. Each member of the CPAT has been appointed to a Career Pathway Focus Group. These diverse focus groups have been assembled to work with education specialists to develop competencies in each of the Mississippi Career Clusters for the career and technical curricula. CPAT members have been asked to carry out specific roles and responsibilities within the focus groups, such as actually assisting the specialists with writing teaching objectives, strategies, and assessment items for the career and technical curricula. This new Mississippi Career Cluster framework presents a vision and a working guide to help the focus groups create the changes necessary to achieve world-class education programs in all Mississippi classrooms. The work of the CPAT will be evaluated by a separate oversight committee whose members are representative of a variety of industry and education interest groups. Please click here to view a listing of CPAT members.

The CPAT conducted its first meeting in Jackson, Mississippi on February 5, 2007. To view the information proposed to the taskforce at this meeting, please click here to download the presentation. The CPAT and oversight committee will continue to meet regularly and make informed recommendations to the State Department of Education for the implementation of the career clusters framework.
